Discount Cork Flooring

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Traditional flooring is not an option anymore for many homes because it attracts dust and requires high maintenance, among other disadvantages. Cork flooring is the best alternative because it is easy to care for, simple yet impressive in appearance, and gives interiors a real lift. Moreover, the installation of cork flooring is so uncomplicated, with no messy or smelly, polluting glues.

The flooring even comes in “do-it-yourself” packages and can be installed right on top of the existing flooring. Whether one wants an outstanding room or just a low-cost flooring alternative that is easy to maintain, cork is the best choice. Most top-quality flooring such as cork is available at wholesale prices. That is as much of a discount one can expect in many instances.

Cork flooring has been used in commercial spaces for years. One commonly cited example is the Toronto Stock Exchange building. The cork flooring did not negatively impact the joints of traders who were up and about the livelong day. It also made for a more serene indoor atmosphere as opposed to most other traditional flooring solutions. During the 1950s, cork floors were installed in public spaces such as restaurants and gyms because people spent a lot of time standing in these places.

As the time went by, manufacturers of cork flooring tried to bring down costs by replacing huge tiles with a veneer pattern on the face of a composition cork base and by reducing the thickness of the tiles from four to two millimeters. These experiments produced undesirable results such as breaking of tiles during installation. As a result, cork flooring sales declined and the industry earned a bad name.

Through the 1990s, however, the sale of cork tiles rose significantly. The mistakes of the past were corrected and manufacturers made sure the product was high in quality. Today installation can be done with little or no trouble, highlighting the benefits of the product in the process.

How to Get Airport Parking Discounts

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

For those of us who have a difficult time preparing in advance for just about anything that we do (present self included), parking overnight at the airport for a flight can not only be the most expensive part of the trip, but also the most stressful. First, you need to find a car park that offers overnight parking for your needed timeframe. Then, you have to hope they have an open space for you. Finally, it could actually cost less to fly around the world than to pay the fees of such car parks. Does it really need to be this way?

No, it doesn’t. You just need to change your procrastinating ways, learn to think ahead, and realize that careful advance planning usually yields the cheapest rate- especially when it comes to the biggest discounts on airport parking.

Of course, the Internet has brought the entire world into your home, especially when it comes to shopping for unusual items as well as everyday necessities, including airport car parking. There are actually quite a few websites in cyberspace that offer this service to you free or charge, as they are paid by the car park for booking the space. Not only do these sites offer discounts on airport parking when you book well in advance, but the better sites will also offer helpful tidbits of information regarding security, transfers, shuttle busses and of course, exactly how far in advance you should reserve your airport car parking spot.

Many of these sites have the ability to book customers at more than one car park through affiliates and/or other links they might have. Just like nearly everything that you do, there are pros and cons for the different car parks. For example, a car park that’s considered to be “on airport parking” is more likely to have less of a focus on customer service and more of a focus on moving the masses to the terminals. The traveler is typically responsible for finding their own parking spot and has to carry their belongings to meet the bus at the curb.

Off airport parking tends to be a bit more on the friendly side. When you arrive, you check in at the reception office where a helpful staff is ready and waiting to assist you as much as necessary. You’ll have full use of the facilities on the premises, and the coach driver will probably load your baggage onto the bus for you.

When you find the ideal website to assist you in your endeavor, be sure to familiarize yourself with it before committing to any service. Follow all instructions carefully, and be certain not to settle for less than you really want. After all, it’s your money.

Annual Sales How To Buy On Sale All Year Round

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Suppose you could always buy on sale. Imagine how much money you would save. While this seems impossible, it is really quite simple. Many products go on sale regularly throughout the year. If you know ahead of time, you can plan.

You can find annual and semi-annual sales on everything from cars to furniture, clothing to appliances and candy to stereos. These sales often happen when seasons change or when new models come out. There are even annual sales on used items. The following tips will help you find the best deals month after month.

  • Don’t be afraid of last year’s models. As a salesman at a national electronics store told me, “All models are discontinued eventually.” So, for example, a brand new stereo that is being phased out can be a very good deal.

  • Be aware of the particular time when products change. For example, almost everyone knows that new car models come out in the fall. However, if you buy after the new automobiles are actually on the showroom floor - known as the new model introduction or NMI - you will get a much better bargain than you would have gotten just a few weeks earlier.

  • Some items like clothes may be discounted long before the season is over. For example, summer clothes can go on sale right after the Fourth of July because stores need to make room for fall clothing and back-to-school merchandise.

  • When you see an annual sale catalogue, save it and file it away. You can bet that this sale will occur again about the same time next year. Also save newspaper ads for recurring sales such as founder’s day and annual clearance sales.

  • Keep a calendar just for making notes about sales that occur during the year in your area.

  • The schedule of sales varies somewhat between regions of the country, especially north to south, since seasonal changes occur at different times.

  • Be flexible. Since you are buying inventory that is left over, you will not find the same selection you would have found earlier in the year. Purchase something that suits your needs, but don’t worry if the color is not exactly right.

  • Get the same warranty as new. When you buy a discontinued new item from the previous year, you should get the same guarantee as the latest brand new product.

  • There is one exception to annual sales: don’t buy anything around Christmas. Almost nothing goes on sale from Thanksgiving to December 25. Yet immediately after, you can find remarkable deals.

If you think of these sales from the stand point of businesses, they need to get rid of their old inventory so they can pay for and make room for new products. A business benefits by getting rid of last season’s stock and you benefit by getting products at deep discounts. Happy bargain hunting!
